Here, Jim, hold my rose

Aloha from St. John, New Brunswick, or as we like to call it, another one of those Canadian places we've never heard of. Today we were pleasantly surprised at how much we liked walking around the city. And the town was glad to see us! In fact, volunteers were waiting at the port to hand out roses to all of the ladies, and since I look somewhat like a lady, I received one. I promptly handed it to poor Jim and made him carry it which was absurd since we weren't even able to bring it back on board. What a good sport my husband is! Anyway, St. John was full of interesting architecture and quaint shopping opportunities. My love of Lego building as a kid has translated into a love of old buildings now so my iPhone camera and I were in hog heaven. We visited the city market and a local shopping mall and left some of our American dollars at both places. I always tell Jim I'm "Christmas shopping" but let's face it: some of that tasty Canadian chocolate probably won't make it home with us, hehe. Below you'll see plenty of pictures that give you an idea of what we saw today. You'll also notice in one of the pictures that apparently Canadians hate Scottie dogs? (Aunt Carolyn, I thought of you.) Tonight we have plans to see a comedian named Al Katz (God help us) and we are planning on going to a show called "The Beatlemaniacs" which is a 4-man Beatle tribute band, in case you hadn't guessed. We saw them last night and what do you know, they were really pretty good! I had fun telling Jim that the Beatles were really more his generation's music and that the only reason I knew the song "I Saw Her Standing There" was because pop sensation Tiffany remade it in the 80's and at age 8 I was a big Tiffany fan. The couple next to us found that funny. The Beatlemanics are playing again tonight so we figured we'd let Jim relive his teenage years again and we'll go see the show. (Oh goodness, he's gonna kill me when he reads this!). Tomorrow we have a brief stop in Boston to disembark passengers who were supposed to disembark at NYC but unfortunately we are not allowed off the ship. Boo. We will then have a couple of sea days before getting to Charleston, South Carolina on Monday. Jim and I agree we are both ready for a larger room, a beach, and warmer weather, all of which we should be getting by Wednesday next week when we get to Florida. As for me, I'm signing off now to apologize to Jim for the old man jokes before he reads this. Bye for now!
