Early this morning we arrived in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for the second leg of our cruise. It was such a sweet feeling last night, looking at all of our fellow passengers bags' sitting outside their rooms, getting ready to disembark and us sitting back knowing we didn't have to! Bright and early this morning we were given cards that said "in transit". We had a leisurely breakfast while watching all the raisins get off the boat. We then walked ourselves off the ship and headed through the port to the nearest grocery store for a few necessities. I needed to have a prescription refilled and left Jim to gather the few things we needed, including a deodorant for him (don't want that boy getting stinky in the islands, hehe). Anyway, when we met up he told me he got his deodorant for free, saving us $9 because they had overcharged him at the register and he caught it. And this was probably the most exciting thing that's going to happen today.
After getting our shopping done, I managed to convince Jim that we NEEDED a pedicure. I begged, and reminded him that one of my favorite uncles gets pedicures and that uncle is no sissy. (Thanks, Uncle Joe!). He finally gave in and well, you will see the results below. He did draw the line at the bright pink nail color I chose for him though.
We returned to our ship after that and were able to check out our new suite. Holy moly, folks! After spending 12 days in a closet, this room is soooo nice! As you'll see in the pictures below, we not only have a bed, but a REAL bathroom (with tub, woohoo!) and a sitting area with a couch. And my favorite part? We have one of the largest private balconies on the ship! I can't wait to spend some time out here.
Since we are in transit, we got to skip the mustard drill today and our new room steward brought us some champagne to enjoy on the balcony. We should be sailing away from here in less than an hour, bound for Antigua. I'm really excited now for the warm weather and comforts of this luxurious room. So, folks, until tomorrow I bid you goodnight and wish us bon voyage!
Ps, the picture of Jim and I making funny faces is how I look on my new cruise ID card. It's awesome and I hope it gives the cruise workers a giggle every time they see it!
