Yep, the title says it all. Today was another sea day with not a whole heck of a lot to do. I should start by telling you that yesterday, on a whim, we decided to test out the swimming pool right before dinner and we had the entire pool and deck for that matter, to ourselves. It was quite nice, but a little too cold for me so we took ourselves 2 decks up to the hot tub, where we shared the tub with a frenchman wearing a speedo. At least I think he was french because do Americans wear speedos? No, they do not. Plus, when he got out of the tub he said something to us that sounded like, "Wee, kitty feet." Now on to today: We started the day with our normal breakfast and coffee, then took a look around outside on the promenade deck. All we see is water and considering we haven't made many of our scheduled stops, this is definitely a magical mystery tour. We could be anywhere right now. We attended a lecture on Charleston, South Carolina and I surprised myself with how much I knew about that city, which is our scheduled stop tomorrow. I've been there quite a few times and even considered moving there after paramedic school so I'm excited to show Jim around. I think I need to do some more "Christmas shopping" too, hee, hee. After the lecture Jim pressured me into going upstairs to the quiet reading area so that he could spend some quality alone time with his kindle. Anyone who knows me, knows I have the attention span of a gnat so this is a sacrifice on my part. Last night I planted a seed in Jim's head that our ships' captain is crazy. While we were waiting for our dinner in the piazza, I yelled ,"Oh my gosh I just saw the captain running into the wine bar and guzzling an entire bottle!". Now every time I see any person in a white uniform I tell Jim another story. "Jim! I just saw the captain run through the casino and then throw up on the floor!". "Jim! I just saw the captain holding a knife to his first mate's throat!". "Jim! That's the captain's blood, I saw him bleeding in here last night!" (That last one came after we spotted a red stain in one of the elevators.). I think he believed the first story but now he's giving me that look that he gives when I tell him I'm pretty sure I saw a UFO at home. I might have to start spacing my stories out a bit...
After we (I) had decided we'd done enough reading, we headed to one of the lounges to watch a rum demonstration. We learned the history of rum making (whoopee!) and watched as Carlito the bartender made two rum cocktails. The host then quizzed us on the history of rum and gave the drinks he'd made to the first people to answer the quiz questions correctly. And guess what, I won a drink! I don't know whether to be proud or ashamed of winning but Jim and I enjoyed the drink all the same. We've also been able to enjoy sitting outside more, admiring the waves since we've been getting to warmer climates. That's nice.
Tonight was formal night in the dining room so we got ourselves gussied up and enjoyed escargot, which is one animal I certainly don't mind eating. And Jim got his lobster so the monkey suit was totally worth it. We were also presented with a special dessert to celebrate our honeymoon. We are going to attend the marriage game show tonight and traditionally the MC asks for one couple of newlyweds, one couple who have been married for 10-20 years, and one couple who have been married forever. I doubt they'll have a hard time finding couples who have been married a long time but I'm getting a sinking feeling that we might be the only newlyweds on board. Let's just see how this goes...
Until tomorrow, goodnight from the newlyweds!
Ps, did you know it's the anniversary of my first "real"date with Jim?
